  • £305 fine for not paying road tax on a ford eco boost which is zero tax

Please could someone advise me on the best course of action.
I have received a letter from the courts and tribunal service with a fine of £305. I had no idea what this was for and when I contacted them it transpires that it was due to the fact I had no paid my vehicle tax. The problem is the tax was £0 due to the car being a ford eco boost. I’m addition to this I was also not informed at all of any proceedings and this letter is the first time I have been made aware of anything. They are also fining me again for not having any tax another date 2 months later. I have contacted the tribunal service who says I can now plead guilty or not guilty but what do I do? I am guilty of having no tax but it is a tax free vehicle. I also don’t really fancy going to court which is I plead not guilty it is most likely to go.
