  • Value of estate

Good Morning. I have a question regarding a family member who died intestate ( think that's right) . Heir hunters have contacted me asking to sign 6% fee for them to work for me. I have asked 6% of what figure but nobody wants to tell me. I did a little research into heir hunting companies and it suggested finding the value of the estate before committing. Is there a way I can find this out ? I appreciate any help.

The value of most estates is in* their house.
If you know where the deceased live you could check land registry to see if they owned the house.
If so you can find a value for the house easily enough on line.
