  • Illegal salary payments at last job?

    Hi
Looking for a bit of advice regarding my final 2 salaries from my previous employer. I will try and keep it brief!

I worked in Poland and was always on the Polish payroll, I moved back to the UK and worked 2 more months with this company. They kept me on the Polish payroll so I received my usual salary and payed Polish tax. To bring my wage to UK standard they "topped up" my wage by giving me £1000 in tax free expenses. This was filed under normal expense procedure again through the Polish accounting team.

I am a bit concerned as to whether this was illegal on their part, and also if it was illegal on my part to accept it?*

thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi sorry but my knowledge of Polish law is non existent so not sure I can provide much help.

However I do not believe that is about the tax you paid on your salary since this was clearly not put through as part of your pay. I think it would be considered more of a company accounting issue i.e. they have paid a £1000 of unreceipted expenses to an individual who has now effectively left the company in Poland. Not sure how serious this is when it comes to having their accounts audited.

Not sure if this has been of any help. *
