We had two HCEOs come to my home. *They had no paperwork, they refused to give their names, when I tried to close the door one of them blocked the door with his foot and then barged in, followed by his colleague. *He then said that his video cam would proof he had been invited in. *This was at 6.30am, I was only wearing a dressing gown. *I yelled for my husband. *He asked them to leave but they refused. They walked around my house, fortunately they accepted that they could not go into the bedrooms where my children were asleep. *I am still shaking from the whole experience. *My husband asked for the paperwork and ID - they refused and said the paperwork was now all digital and we would receive it in the post. *They told me they were going to take my husband’s computer which he uses for work, the table and chairs and fridge freezer - which had food in, amongst other things. *They then waited by the door and said they were waiting for a lorry to take the possessions. *Eventually they wrote a figure on a piece of paper and said that figure had to be paid. *My husband agreed that it would be paid within a month and they left. *I don’t feel safe in my home, *it was like thugs forcing their way into my home. *Can they really refuse to say who they are and also provide no paperwork ?

Yes we have found out where they were from and yes they do have a CCJ against my husband for a personal guarantee.* I have done some research since and they cant force there way into a residential home and they must leave if asked to - they did neither.* I am though, more curious about the process they should follow and surely they are required to provide documents and provide ID when they visit.* They have broken a number of rules but I cant seem to find whether they are required to provide documentation and ID?* We have made an official complaint about their behaviour.

Before they attend they must send you a Notice of Enforcement which gives at least 7 clear days in which you can make payment or make contact in order to arrange payment in instalments (if acceptable) - this is a legal requirement. If they fail to do so (and there is one Company who have form for not doing it) then anything that follows may not be permissible. If on attending they are required to show their ID if requested - if you have names of who they were then you can check to see if they are suitably certificated at https://certificatedbailiffs.justice.gov.uk/
