  • Tm Legal Services please help

Hi Guys, I've come on hoping you can help me as I've been in a bit of a state today. Il explain the situation and any advive would be greatly appreciated.

I received an email from TM legal services Which I will enclose, I dont know alot about them. From what I've read they are not great.

I had a loan from lending stream around 18 to 24 months ago, I was with my ex then and I gave her the money to clear the loan. They are claiming that this hasent been paid, ( Well I think it's this as I have not had any other credit in the past). Problem is I cant contact her as she has moved abroad and I have no details for her.

I did recieve 1 other email the other day but it went to my junk folder, which I rarely check. It just basically said you owe us x amount, please contact us. There has been no other correspondence to my knowledge as mail is forwarded to me at my new address.

Plz check out the email and let me know what you think and sorry to ramble but if you need to know any other info please just ask as i dont know where to start.

    Many Thanks in advance, John

First thing is to contact the court ( Northampton county court business centre ) and ask them if there is a judgment - or even a claim against you - TM Legal are part of Asset Collections - so they will be the claimant /judgment holder. *The court should be able to look up under your name and address - have you moved since taking out the loan ? If so it may have been issued to an old address so give that to the court too.

Yes I have moved as I separated from my partner, but I know the people that live there now and I have literally just come back from there house and there is no letters regarding this, they always pass them on, I will give them a ring tomorrow and go from there.

Ok let me know what court say , it has been known for TM to be mistaken. Was the loan in your ex's name or yours ? If your ex's then any claim would have been against her and you wouldn't be able to find anything out due to data protection and she'd have to sort it out.

It was in my name, Its really been worrying me if I'm honest. I guess it's the unknown. I've just read so many horror stories and dont really want an attachment of earnings or anything like that.

I will indeed let you know what they say, Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction.

Ok so I phoned Northampton county court buisness centre. They have told me that they are unable to search thru my name, they would need an 8 digit case number which I dont have. She also said you would have received a notice of claim which I haven't had.

So she said contact TM legal which I really dont want to do.

So I'm at a loss now what to do.

TM have been known to get the details wrong, i dealt with a case with them where they claimed to have X and Y but they couldnt provide any evidence and in the end they threw in the towel.

The Court does not have a search function so you would need the Court number. TM Legal should be able to give this to you without any difficulty. All you need to do is call them, dont enter into any discussions with them about the debt, just be clear that you have been informed they have a CCJ, you cannot trace any such judgment and need the claim number so you can seek further info from the Court.

Thats all i would do if i were dealing with it
