Returning car pcp

We have a car on pcp and have 50% paid.* We have missed some payments and owe 1 057.* Tried to pay half last week and remainder end of month wouldn't accept and guy said they would be repossession car on the 10th February.* Had to get another car as need for work and rang to see when they were taking car back and deny they said this.* Have had default notice but they say it's not in default
* we want to give car back but cant afford to pay 1 057 in full.* What are our options.* Thanks
