  • Company vehicle and speeding fines

    Hi,

My work have contacted me letting me know i have recieved a speeding ticket, the van i am driving is a small vauxhall caddy which as far as i am aware can travel the same speed as cars on motorways, dual carriageways and single carriageways however i have done some research and turns out that the catergory the van i am driving is registered under N1 which means i should be driving at a reduced speed limit on a dual carriageway, as i have no V5C for the vehicle as it is a company vehicle i did not know this and was not told by my company, was this down to me to find this out about the vehicle or should my employer have told me? And would i still be respinsible for the speeding fine and points?

    Thanks
    Chris

    Second post on this point.
Basically you are responsible for knowing what class of vehicle you are driving.

IMO your best option would point out to your employer the confusion that can arise when a vehicle can be classified in different ways and perhaps they could post a note in each vehicle about its registration class.
At the same time it would be nice if they could contribute to any penalty you get.

I wouldn't risk going to court. I would take the points and hope the firm would help with the penalty, but it is your choice
