Hello,
I have previously shoplifted at m&s, yes I know stupid and regretful.
Today I was apprehended by undercover security, I explained I had been studying all day and was on my way to work.
I asked whether I was in trouble to which he responded 'Just bat your eyes and you'll be fine' which I found bizarre.
I was taken to the backroom to meet the manger I apologised explained the scenario, the security man then asked for my ID. I complied.
He then asked the manager whether I would be banned. He replied no, it seems an honest mistake. I then paid for my food and left. The security guard then winked at me, which I found very distasteful.
It was under £8 in value.
My concern is- as I have previously shoplifted at this m&s whether they'd put two and two together as they have my ID. But since I was no banned, surely this will not go any further?
Will I be contacted by a debt collecter despite not being banned or told of this info, even tho they took a photo of my ID.
Furthermore, I no longer live at my license address, my parents do but I live elsewhere will they work that out?
Should I be expecting m&s to work out I have shoplifted before? or shall I assume as I was told no further action and had no ban, they would not pursue this?
Basically, should I expect a civil reclaims letter, despite not being banned but having my details taken?
And further, should I alert M&S head office of the creepy security officer who is blatantly sexist?
Thank you.
