  • Advantis chasing something

Hi everyone, have received a slightly worrying letter from Advantis and hoped someone on here might be able to advise me on how best to respond.

I've read some threads on here about them but I don't think I've seen any with the exact wording from my letter (forgive me if this has been covered before!)

The letter reads(some details redacted for obvious reasons):

    -

Advantis provide professional services to a number of large organisations within the UK.

We have been instructed by our client, [Water company], to verify the current whereabouts of [me], formerly resident at [address I rented a room at Sep '18 to March '19], in relation to an outstanding business matter.

We are writing to verify that we have your current contact address. If you are the person named above please call us to confirm this so that we may update our records, this will prevent further unwanted or unsolicited letters and possible phone calls.

They make no mention of outstanding debts, however I now know they are a dca. My tenancy agreement stated that water bills were covered in the monthly rent, and my friend who has lived there for a few years has not received correspondence from Advantis. I have certainly never opened an account with the named water company. I'm not even sure I signed up to the electoral roll while living there so I'm unsure as to how they have access to my name and current address.

If anyone could give me any pointers on how to proceed from here I'd be very grateful!
