  • Is ASDA guilty of fraud/theft for Coinstar non-payment?

    Hiya

Could anyone give me some advice on this little issue please?*

I took some coins to ASDA yesterday and changed them up in a Coinstar machine. The voucher came out of the machine for £115.43, but the woman at the till said they didn't have enough money to cover it*(they empty the tills at 20:00 and it was 20:55) and to come back today. I said no problem and left. I went back today and some other person at the till told me the voucher must be reclaimed on the day it was created and won't give me my money. It does say on the bottom of the voucher "Please redeem this voucher today at this store".

Are they in breach of their own terms because they refused to pay me no less than 5 minutes after I was given the voucher by the machine? There was no notice on the machine saying anything about tills being emptied at certain times, or that I use it at my own risk because the shop may not be able to actually pay out. They should switch it off if there are time limits. It's only £100 but I needed it and now it has been taken.*

    Thanks anyone who can help...

Were there any signs on the machine saying the money had to be reclaimed that day?
