  • Never gotHorizon parking fine letter, get debt recovery + letter 5 months later!

Hello all Am new to this, so thank you in advance for any advice and help, much appreciated. I posted the below as a guest a few minutes ago, then registered and saw this forum, so posted here too. Am not sure if we get email notifications if anyone replies to threads?

I I got a letter from Debt Recovery PLus last week about parking fine at a Sainsbury's car park 5 months ago. The letter is a template and badly written. I am reluctant to deal directly with them. Reading many forums, am a bit confused. One person said the same happened to her and Sainsburys SAID that too much time had passed so they couldnt help! I had found in my bank statement that I had shopped there on the day in question and taken cash out the day before. My dvla details and address are up to date, dont know why a letter from Horizon was never sent/arrived; the DB+ letter came to my correct address.Should I ignore it all, or contact Sainsburys or Horizon? According to the debt letter, I only have 14 days from when I recieved it, over a week ago until they go further. . They DR+ want to charge me £140.00 but I dont know what the Horizon fine was originally.

Normally DRP are ignored, they cannot do anything.

SAR to Horizon to get all the documents they hold about you and your car

Edit so that the identity of the driver cannot be inferred

Hi Ostell - thanks very much for replying. What is SAR please? If I get in contact with Horizon, will they start hassling me asking for more money as time has passed since the alleged parking incident? They have no proof any letter arrived at my house as I didnt sign for anything as nothing arrived last year!*

Subject Access Request* There is a template on the forum.* Legal request for all the information a company hold about you.

If they don't know the driver they can't increase the charge to the keeper, though they try.

HI Ostell, I feel guilty asking for help.. :-) ... do I need to mention to Horizon that i received a letter from DR+ mentioning the sainsburys parking last August without mentioning who driver was, -and say to them I have only recieved this letter recently, but had nothing from Horizon last year. Or.. do I strictly just ask for any information on me, and then they will tell me about the parking fine of car* (not driver)
          thanks again..Cat

You just want the information they hold about you and the car. No need to mention why and you don't have to tell them the driver. The identity of the driver is irrelevant

If they have no docs then why are DRP chasing you?

Hi Ostell - I received a reply to the SAR from Horizon Parking yesterday. They say they have no information on my car or current address on their files and are asking for it. (which I am not going to give!)
This is a bit weird as DRP send their letter to me at my correct current address.*
So is it ok to ignore Horizon and DRP now?*

Ignoring will get you to a court CLAIM.* So did you not send them a normal letter with your address on it?*

HI. I sent an email with my current address and name to Horizon, using a SAR template. Horizon replied saying they have no record of me. I have not contacted DR+ as yet as they said they used some sort of tracing service to find me. My DVLA info is all up to date, so dont know why they are chasing me if the actual parking company have no record of me! thanks for your help. Claire :-)
