  • Parking Eye PCN Durham Odeon

Hi there - we parked in the Odeon's car park on 30/12/19 and was in the cinema for a few hours. When we returned to the car park we went to the machine to pay our parking charge. How to pay was very confusing with little info on how to do it but involved putting in your registration which we did. The amount of £2 appeared on the screen which we thought was lower than expected. We used 2 different methods to pay it firstly via a phone app which didn't appear to work so used a credit card which appeared to work as the screen then read 'do you require a receipt?' we pressed yes but no receipt appeared. We therefore assumed payment had been made and drove off. I received a PCN in the post today for £100 discounted to £60 if I pay within 14 days. It doesn't state why I have to pay. However after checking the credit card statement it doesn't look like payment was taken. Therefore I wonder if there is a case to challenge this charge? I would really appreciate some advice please.
I have looked on the internet and wasn't surprised to see dozens of complaints from other people who have had exactly the same problem with this particular car park.*

Hi I’ve had exact the same issue. I left the cinema and went to a machine that was working and was only 1. A huge que as everyone was confused with how to pay. I put my reg In and 1.50 showed up so eventually found how to pay and used contactless to pay. I have a receipt etc but received a letter before court I’m unsure weather to reply as this admits etc. But I paid my ticket I thought was a bit cheap too but the machines where so unclear. I don’t know what to do now. What did you do?*
