  • Employer revealing medical information

    Dear All

please can i have some advise.

I had a part-time job working as a Cleaning Supervisor for the Leeds University Union for 2-years.

However my wife experienced a miscarriage during my employment and I had a short period off work after going to the Dr and getting help with depression. I couldnt handle the miscarriage and needed some time off to spend with my wife.

Unfortunately, my supervisor revealed to the team I suffered depression and the team cruelly made jokes about me having mental health problems (which isnt true).

I made an official grievace and it was won that it was wrong to reveal my medical information. The management team that concluded on my grievance were unsympathetic and offered me no resolution.

In Decemeber I resigned from my job and contacted ACAS and decided to not to do early consiliation.

I am unable to get a solicitor as the solictors I have contacted dont want to touch my case beacseu my part-time job eanred me less than £5K/year.

I am completing an ET1 form now and want to what laws were broken etc...

    ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

    PLEASE HELP

This just sounds like tittle tattle and nothing to do with your employer or nothing they could have foreseen or prevented.
However there has been a recent case in which a supervisor advised an employee to act as if he was gay or he would be fired as the manager only wanted gay employees. He resigned, claimed constructive dismissal and won. This is similar to your case in which the employer did not directly say or do anything.
