  • Employer withdrew offer before Job commenced

Hi, I had recently been for an interview for a job, received the job offer that evening by phone and accepted.
I then visited the workplace to meet everyone and understand the role and what the company was currently doing (this was voluntary on my part as I was keen to start this job and wanted to hit the ground running for them). I received a contract during that visit, a letter confirming the offer and a start date was arranged. That evening I signed the contract and had arranged to return the week after to give in ID/certificates and the signed contract; this meeting was subsequently cancelled and told it would be re-arranged.
I had already given notice at my previous employment on the acceptance of the verbal job offer. One week before I was due to start, I received an email informing me the offer had been withdrawn due to a change in business circumstances. I have tried to contact the company but they are not responding.
Now I am left with no job and no salary and a young family and I cannot rescind my notice given at my previous employer.
The contract states I would be given 3 months notice on termination, I think this is the least they can do considering they have left me unemployed.*
Do you think I have a case to instruct a solicitor or is it too uncertain?
Thanks in advance for your time considering this.
