.In July, the handbrake failed on a car parked on our drive. The car rolled into our period farmhouse and put a hole in the shed attached directly to the back of it; the impact pulled the Victorian construct away from the house.
we contacted the insurance company and they sent loss adjusters who finally came to inspect and offered us 75 per cent of the actual cost/ that is, 75 per cent of the cheapest of three quotes which we obtained. We complained, asking for the full amount, as the Victorian shed needs complete rebuilding.
Their response wast to say that they now won't pay anything, we have to sue them or claim from our buildings insurance.
is this right? has anyone else ever been in this situation? Can we complain to the ombudsman or are we compromised since the insurance policy doesn't belong to us?
Any thoughts would be welcome
