    My friend was chased out of Asda by the security guard and was deliberately had her feet kicked from under her and broken her arm in the process is this legal??

    On the brief details you have given it does seem the Security guard used more than reasonable force

    To detain a suspected shoplifter,(which I assume is the position here) he is entitled to use a ‘reasonable' amount of force. Under section 3 of the Criminal Law Act 1967 he may ‘use as much force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime, or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large'.
