I'm currently searing for a new job and had an interview yesterday which went excellently and have been offered a second interview/ trial on Saturday with the Managing Director. My notice period at work is four weeks, and I know they will not agree to anything shorter than this. If this opportunity does turn into a job offer, then it is highly likely my notice period will coincide with the company's annual shutdown over Christmas which starts on the 20th of December and returning on the 2nd of January.Â*
If this were to happen, where would I stand? Would I be obliged to return to work after the shutdown even if it is for a nominal period? I'm easily replaced in my present role, so that's not a problem but what do I risk if the annual shutdown is incorporated into my notice period?
