Hello. We wondered if there anything more we can do to stop repeated claims for damages. We had a claim brought against our little dog in May 2018. An unsupervised 5 year old was allowed to run at our dog (who was legally tied up outside a shop..not near the entrance). The child frightened the dog, and the dog nipped her. Police were involved, and said we had not broken any law. An independent witness at the scene gave evidence on our behalf. The Mother of the child brought a claim for damages, which lasted about 1 year, and ended in no claim, as we had not done anything unlawful. In the interim, the Mother of the child has harassed us (initially) to such a degree that the local village website was shut down. She also continues to intimidate us even now, by parking her car very near to our house...and recently (last week) right outside our house. We heard this week from our dog insurer, that she trying another claim. Is there anything at all we can do to prevent this woman from continually causing us emotional distress/harassment by her aggressive behaviour, including this next claim? Could we bring a counter claim..or start charging her for the emotional distress she continues to cause us, even when there is no case to answer to...? It seems so one-sided and unfair.. Our little dog has been adversely affected...she loved little children previously, but is now frightened of them. So she has actually been traumatised by the incident. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.
