  • Tesco ‘theft’

I am extremely embarrassed but today I put a bottle of hair conditioner and some makeup in my shopping bag whilst i was shopping to keep it separate from grocery’s. I forgot to pay for them and was subsequently stopped at the exit by a security guard. I tried to explain it was a mistake but he wasn’t having any of it. Its all a blur as I was shocked and embarrassed but he took my name and address and said that I’d receive a fine of ‘a couple hundred quid’ through the post. He also said I was banned from that specific tesco. This tesco was in a different town to where i live and I’m just wondering if they’ll inform my local tesco about this? It’s worried me so much.

Only the courts can "fine" you and this has not been anywhere near a court, nor will it ever.

You will get a letter from a company asking for a sum to cover their losses. There have been no losses.

The letters will continue for a few months, just ignore them and file away

Thank you, I have read this elsewhere to. Are they likely to inform other stores?
