I discovered my CCJ whilst viewing my credit report a few days ago, I was prompted to do so when I was refused a bank account.
The claim was for a payday loan with the Money Shop, being pursued by BW Legal on behalf of PRAC Financial Limited. The balance due is £507.42, judgement date 11.10.2018
I feel like this debt has come out of no where, the initial loan account started in 2013, defaulted in 2014 and ended in 2016. I have been through my bank account history for the years in question but I have failed to notice any dealings with the money shop at all. I'm 27 next month I've have had my fair share of payday loans when I was younger but I don't remember specific details. I try my best to keep on top of my debts, I am sure I would have tried to make an arrangement or payment at some point during this long period of time. I can only assume it's a paid debt that they're trying to recharge me for or that the debt is completely false.
Now the money shop is awaiting a potential liquidation, I spent near to 3 hours trying to get through to them today for more information on the debt but no luck.
I've done my research and it's safe to say I'm definitely planning to put in a set aside application, I've already applied for 'help with the application fees' as I am presently on a very low income. I'm just not sure how strong my defence is
Any help will be greatly appreciated. If anyone can shed some light on what the 'judgement date' of the CCJ officially means this will be very helpful.
Thank you so much in advance.
