  • Tax Credits Total Hours Calculation Question

Hello everyone, I am new here, nice to meet you all!
I have a question that has to do with how the Tax Credits are being checked.
I work 16 hours week and I am getting tax credits on disability (PIP) so I only need 16 hours work per week.
My question is whether if my hours are fluctuating from week to week, the tax office will be OK with me doing certainly 64 hours a month but not strictly 16 hours every week.
For example one week I might work 17 hours, the next 15, the third week 12 and the fourth week 18 and so in total, I am doing 16x4 hours monthly. Will that be OK with them? I don't know how they calculate at the end of the financial year to decide if I have been working the hours I should. I don't know if they check annual income and then divide by 12, or if they divide by 52, or if they are just happy with the total amount and are not dividing the total.
    Thank you!
    India :-)

A 6 week average is standard so I wouldn't worry about it - it sounds like your average would be 16 in any event.

Ahh here - https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-g...#guide-content - should explain it. It is a bit vague but so many people have fluctuating hours it would be an administrative nightmare to update every week.
