  • HMCTS Wales Text Massage

    Hi Guys

Today I have received a text message from HMCTS wales. On enquiring, I have found out that this fine (due amount) is for train fare evasion charges took place in 2010 (9 years ago). I have not received anything in the post.

The HMCTS Wales court staff telling me that I have to pay this due amount otherwise they will arrange the arrest warrant on my name and it does not matter, how old the debt is, you have to pay.

Could someone please help me. What shall I do?

I will appreciate any help on this issue......

Having just found about this and knowing nothing of it previously, you may be able to make a Statutory Declaration to this effect which will rewind everything back to the beginning. Have they been able to tell you which Court it was heard at originally?

Ealing Magistrates’ Court. Some debt collector contracted me in 2017 and I have replied to them it's too old ( Statutory Declaration) and never heard back from them in the past 2 years. Now just received a text from HMCTS Wales. what shall I do? Wait for the paper (letter) from them?

Magistrates Court Fines cannot be Statute Barred. To make the Stat Dec I referred to earlier must be made within 21 days of becoming aware of it. The vdifficulty you may have is your admission above of being contacted earlier. To your knowledge were you guilty of the original charge, did you know of the original Court Hearing. One thing to bear in mind is if this passed on for enforcement then the Warrant contains the power to force entry. It will be in your own interests to contact the Court ASAP. If you no longer live near the Court then you may be able to have it dealt with at a Court local to you.
