  • Male wearing make up

    Hello all.

I am an employer who runs a pub/restaurant. One of my male employees has decided to start wearing pink mascara, he is not homosexual but has an obsession with David Bowie. It looks awful and is likely to be a detriment to repeat business.... he looks like he hasn't slept for a week. Can I legally tell him that he can not wear it whilst he is at work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Regards
    Dave

What clauses about appearance are in your terms and conditions? If you have one about appearance you need to make it clear it is unacceptable but then you must also apply that to any women who are 'alternative' in their appearance.

BTW how do you know he is not Homosexual- do 'they' usually wear big badges? My point might sound rude but it is off the cuff remarks like that which can get you, as an employer, into trouble.
