  • Shared water supply, no water between 40 - 140 mins per day

    Dear All,

    Please can you advise?

    The objective.
    Have water when we open our taps.

    Background
    We have no water, not a drop between +- 40 to 140 minutes per day since I bought this house +- 2008, please see chart https://imgur.com/a/wmI2GZ8. {At times no water for more than 4 hours per day}
    4 Properties share the same 32mm supply. Please see image of houses and supply https://imgur.com/a/x8iH838.
    If any house use the water the others have near zero water. The effect is only accurately measured at house nr 2, my house.

    House 2 is mid terrace freehold property, build in 1905, London, Greenwich. Thames water supply the water.

    All other houses on the same street have their own supplies. We know this since the Victorian water supplies were replaced +- 2011. Also knocked on various property doors and asked.

    => A reference only. Measurements done with 2 analogue pressure gauges (one 2.5% accurate, the other 1%} and the industrial pressure transducer {1% accuracy} which allow for data capture at micro second level. My data at this time is at 1 minute resolution. All measurements are ignored when my house opens a tap.

    Past actions and progress.
    Thames water in 2012 quoted +- £2500 to close the public road and install my own water supply. My position had always been, more than happy to pay for any work inside my property and or to connect to whatever is provided on the pavement. We all pay the fixed rate Thames water charge to supply water at +- £350 per year,
    I thought it unreasonable not to have water for 40 minutes to X hours per day.

    Options considered at this time.
    a. Ask Thames water to install a supply for house nr 2.
    I am sure this is of no use as I will have to pay £2500 * inflation since 2012.
    Only myself seem motivated to solve this.
    {I believe neighbours using pumps since at times air is sucked from my taps when I open these}

    b. Ask Thames water for a quote to provide own connection on pavement.
    This is not desired as this will probably cost £XYZ and I am not sure this will resolve the issue of zero and at times negative pressure.

    c. Ask neighbour {house 1} to allow me access at front "garden" to connect a new 25mm pipe to point where shared connection enter their property.
    Already asked this, not sure what the response will be.
    Do I have a right to ask this?
    Neighbour recently covered the entire garden area with concrete. The front where access is needed is partly covered with concrete.
    Humble area I live in, width of properties +- 6 m. {Rear gardens not applicable in this case +- 35 m}

    I could find only 3 posts on this site with shared water supply issues.
    Should I post on a different forum, please point me in that direction. {I looked and quite a number of other sites, thought this is most suitable}

    Your views will be very much appreciated.
