Hi - Yesterday (12th July 2019) I received a parking fine notice from MET parking services telling me I "failed to validate stay in car park" at McDonalds near Gatwick airport back in May!!!
My partner and I returned from a trip away on the 7th May 2019. We were hungry and knew it would be late by the time we got home to eat, so decided to stop and grab a quick bite. We did not notice any signage outside or inside telling us we had to validate our stay in the car park and to be honest the service was so slow inside that we almost left without waiting for the food...! I hasten to pay this fine so am wondering if anyone else has suffered the same recently and whether this can be challenged? I do not want to end up paying £100 fine if we appeal but likewise, I do not believe we did anything wrong. We parked, went inside, ordered food from a machine, paid, waited, ate the food and left?! This is making a mockery of parking and at fast food restaurants at that! Can anyone help or advise if it is worth trying to appeal? I do not have the receipt but as I paid via debit card I can prove payment date and also e-ticket/boarding pass for our return flights to LGW... could this help? Thanks.
