  • Booked a flight through STA with Jet Airways, now £600 out of pocket

Bought two return flights to Bangkok from London with STA travel, with Jet Airways. When we got to Bangkok airport on 21st April to return we were told our flights were cancelled and we had to book new flights home. STA had promised us during the trip that we had a new flight home as Jet had announced cancellation of all flights. Throughout the holiday they were unresponsive and this caused a lot of distress throughout the holiday.

When in Bangkok we called my uncle and told him the situation. Without consulting us my uncle called STA and booked us a new flight home with Lufthansa. STA took the £300 from the Jet flight off the bill an so we both had to pay the £600 difference back to our uncle. STA did not attempt to find a solution to get us home so my uncle thought this was the only option.
Been told our SAFI insurance will not cover it, STA refuse to compensate.

    Any suggestions?

Was it a package holiday or flight only purchase?

Thank you, it was unfortunately flights only with STA.

Were you due to fly onwards from Bangkok? If so you would be then flying back to Bangkok and connecting with the new flight.

As the flight was from an EU airport, and a return ticket, jet have certain duties and you may want to look into that

Sorry I hadn't realised Jet had become insolvent on 20th April
