ME III is another of Cabots companies, much as Mortimer Clarke are, but ME II are not authorised for consumer credit debt collection.

Is the letter a letter before claim ? ( is their a reply form with it ?)

Any idea what it could have been originally ? any clues in the amount, on your credit file etc ?

If it is consumer credit you could send ME III a CCA request - CCA Request

It's a letter saying I can set up a payment plan and to get in touch with them, it's got the income and outgoings form with it. Nothing on my clear score file that is this amount, absolutely no idea what it's from but definitely nothing recent.

No threat of legal action at all ?

It could be statute barred. If it isn't a letter before claim - I think you're quite safe to ignore it.

Letter before claim will look a bit like

If you get one of those you should act, but otherwise I don't think there is any need, unless it is stressing you, in which case send a CCA request off to ME III and see what, if anything comes back - CCA Request

It just says if we do not hear from you we will refer the matter to our client for further instructions. Does statute barred mean it's been wiped?
