I purchased a vehicle which had a 4 year HP agreement and after 2 years asked Mercedes if I can return the vehicle as I was leaving the country. The vehicle was in perfect condition and was worth approx £13K on autotrader and had approx £15k outstanding. I took out top up insurance with Mercedes for this exact possible scenario but they said the insurance does not cover that. You may know that by law you are allowed to hand a vehicle back after 50% has been repaid. I did so but to my bemusement they have taken the vehicle back and put on my credit score that I didn't pay (i forget the terminology) for a vehicle worth £15k. I feel this is unfair. Could you please offer some insight ?
Subsequently then have said that there was a shortfall on said 'so you are 'Voluntary surrendering' the vehicle which I agreed to. Vs and TV have such vast differences on your credit score. They basically take the vehicle and sell it AND you still owe everything . They do not minus the vehicle value. Surely this is unfair ?
Any advice please ?
Thanks
