I've received a letter from the council saying they will be issuing costs for a RTC (crashed into a lamp post) that occurred about 4 months ago.
I was wondering if there was a set amount of time that the Council had to contact me as the Insurance has paid out and I thought the matter was closed.
I am going you ask for a copy of the accident report from the police to show that I wasn't at fault (car is black boxed and shows the speed I was travelling at when the accident occurred). If I haven't been charged by the police for dangerous driving and can prove that they stated the car was in good condition (and the insurance people wouldn’t have paid out if there was an issue with the car that meant I caused the crash) I would have thought I would have grounds to claim that the accident was not caused by myself but by road conditions.
As such wouldn’t the fault lay with the Council for this?
Tenuous stretch but nothing ventured nothing gained
