Bailiffs for 16 year old fine

Hi iv had the bailiffs at my door asking for £656
for an offence 16 years ago
for no tax on a car they’re saying I owned
i never owned this car
it was my ex wife car
with have been spite up for years
I don’t got on with my ex
but I have txt her telling her the situation
she the car was never in my name why they coming to me
iv got messages to prove this
I could do with some help as what to do
