In November 2018, I entered a local carpark at 6.10pm, we were meeting friends across the road for a meal. Unknown to us this carpark which had always been for the use of shoppers in the area but never charged, had been taken over by the above named company. We noticed a machine under a tree but the signs and information were not possible to see, it was pitch black and the spotlights fixed up high were blindingly bright and try as we could, neither us nor three others looking could read anything. In this area no carparks charge after 6pm so we left the matter and returned just after 8pm.
When we received a notice of parking fine well into the Spring, I went back in daylight to see what I had missed. I took photographs of machine, pole with lights and tariff notice with my phone; I still could not read any of it so I enlarged the notice of tariffs - it would seem I should have paid £1.50p, for the time parked ! I was amazed as I am being asked to pay £170., so I wrote all the above to QDR Solicitors, instructed by ZZPS, and enclosed the £1.50 cheque. I suggested the lights be rejigged or changed and they should consider mentioning it is a paying carpark on the
road sign directing you in; also bring the tariff sign down where it can be read by a shortie like me, 5 ft.
The cheque has been returned and I have been given until the 14th May to pay up.
Help, what can I do, I do not have £170 to spare in my pension.

    Hi & welcome to LB
In your communications with the parking co/their agents, did you ID (or infer the ID) of who was actually driving/parking on that occasion?
Shame you didn't find us before writing to them, as the current advice is never to ID the driver, & never to engage with third party debt collectors.....I would imagine that QDR were also acting in that capacity, & not as an instructed solicitor.
