Hi everyone,
I recently voluntary terminated my finance agreement on a Vauxhall Astra. I wasn’t quite at 50% of my payment so I was aware of having to pay up the excess, also I incurred around £300 worth of damage charges which I’m not disputing. However I have been hit with a large excess mileage charge, my agreement was for 40000 miles over 4 years. I returned the car after 2 and a half years with around 46000 miles. I have seen on other forums and now understand it is worked out on a pro rata basis when handing back early. The issue I’ve got is I feel I’ve been miss sold in the first place, during the purchase of the car we were asked what our annual mileage was and we clearly stated we did at least 15000. We even traded in a car that would prove this given its age and mileage. We received quite a hard sell. In order to bring our monthly payments down to what we could afford we were naively convinced to agree to 10000 per year. I feel that I have been sold an agreement that would have always left me out of pocket. I don’t have the sort of money that they are demanding so I’m desperate for any help I can get.
