  • Chain garage incompetence - compensation?

I wont name the garage but the short version of the story is that a well known chain garage completed an MOT on my car and did some work to get it through the MOT. All was seemingly ok until we started to experience problems with the car just 2 days later...

It became apparent that they had "forgotten" to bolt the wheel bearing onto the bearing housing... meaning it could have resulted in a serious accident.

The garage have willingly fixed the problem and any resulting damage and we have also put in an official complaint. At the moment they have just offered isua *free* MOT and full service. I think this is disgusting how they failed to give us a car that was actually safe to drive and all they can offer us is a service and MOT. Are we entitled to more? And if so what could we expect?

A bit frightening, but no one was injured.
You possibly suffered a little stress
You have lost nothing, the work has been corrected and you have been offered some freebies.
IMO you have no legal entitlement to more
