  • British Seniors Insurance

Hi All.I need some advice. My Mum passed away on 1st April 2019.She had three life insurance. Two of her life insurances have paid out,the third life insurance mum had with British Seniors Insurance they have not paid out and we as a family are having real problems with British Seniors Insurance. We submitted mum's death certificate to British Seniors Insurance, they then returned the death certificate with a letter saying they would pay the claim within three working days....we are still waiting a month later. We then discovered we had given them an incorrect sort code.....this was corrected to them three weeks ago and still no payment of mum's life insurance claim by them.We even got the manager of the building society to ring on our behalf to tell British Seniors Insurance that no payment had been received. We are getting no further forward with British Seniors.Would appreciate any advice on what we can do next. Many thanks.

    Hi and welcome

Sorry to hear of your loss.

You mention the building Society.....is the money required to repay a mortgage?

As the executor(s) gave the insurers a wrong sort code, has anyone checked if that sort code and account number exist in tandem and the insurers have actually paid the wrong person?

If the executors are sure there has been no payment have they used the insurers complaint system? (complaints@britishseniors.co.uk)
If they have a final letter to Neilson Financial Services @ Landmark Place, Windsor Road, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 1JL.
Address it to Gavin John Donnelly, Director.

That is the private limited company who trade as British Seniors.

Explain what has happened and request he arranges payment within 7 days of receipt.
Advise him failure will spark a complaint to FOS as, although it may not apply strictly to this policy, The Enterprise Act 2016 implies terms into policies that require claims to be paid within a reasonable time.

However IMO seven weeks after passing is not necessarily unreasonable

Hi Des.The money is to pay towards my mums funeral. My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year so he is under a lot of pressure at the moment so i am acting on his behalf.British Seniors have definitely not paid mum's life insurance into my dad's Skipton Building Society Account. They just appear to be passing the buck and a few days ago they said the money will be in dad's account tomorrow(7th May 2019)if it isn't then we will be contacting Mr Donnely. Many thanks for your advice.
