  • Passport - miss spelling

A relative of mine has a passport in his name but has changed the name on purpose. He has managed to have his surname misspelt on purpose ( eg Smith instead of Smyth)..he has done this after he has had drug conviction for possesion of Class A drugs. He wanted to visit the USA without any Visa hassle. He booked the flights in the incorrect name too. The name he has is always being miss spelt this has always been a problem. He has used this to his advantage. He got his passport photo signed by a teacher but he must have subtley changed the spelling of the "this is a true likeness of 'john Smith" to "Smyth"

I am less than happy about this and really wondering why he should get away with it. Any advice ???
