  • Parking Eye

Hi everyone, new to this forum but had to join, this looks like a wonderful idea.
My own problem stems from Parking Eye (who seem to pop up regularly on here). With the Retail Park in Barnstaple there is a time limit of 2 hours for customers using the surrounding shops. We took my Wife's registered assistance dog (my Wife has almost no hearing) to Pets at Home for a full grooming appointment. We are duty bound to the Hearing Dogs Charity to look after the dog (who are legally his owners). We were told that it would take at least 2 hours to complete. With registration both in and out at the grooming desk we were there well over 2 hours and hey presto, a Parking Charge Notice was received because we were 29 minutes over. We didn't bother leaving the park, we went in other shops, shopped in some of them and had a Costa coffee before returning to pick up our dog. All genuine use of the retail park!
Do I use Parking Eye's own appeal process and explain the situation as I've described above or is there a better approach to take?
I'm sure Pets at Home aren't aware that their customers are at risk of being penalised for using their services.
    Many thanks in advance.

So your first point of contact is Pets at Home and complain strongly to the management that you have been charged for the length of time of their service. Contact the manager only and firmly request that the charge is cancelled. Why do they have a parking limit of 2 hours when their service takes more than 2 hours.

There's probably a "no return within" clause on there as well which stops you reasonably dropping the dog off then returning when dog groomed.

Thank you Ostell, I did consider that and after your comment will now certainly inform the Pets at Home management. And yes there is indeed a "no return within 1 hour" clause!

So Pets at Home are also suggesting you do something that could possibly bring down the wrath of the parking company on you in the normal course of business

Good advice again Ostell, thank you. I spoke to the manager at the Pets at Home and he contacted Parking Eye and result- charge quashed. Cheers.

At least a sensible response by a company and PE.
