  • Caught shoplifting and banned from Canary Wharf??

    hello everybody,
today I was caught shoplifting in Waitrose at Canary Wharf estate. Even if the total value of the stolen objects was around £8, they banned me for life from the shop.
While I honestly don’t care if I can get into one of those super posh shops ever again, I was banned from Canary Wharf estate as well for about 6 months. I also was told by security that I’m not allowed to use dlr services that run from Canary Wharf as the station supposedly falls under “jurisdiction” of Canary Wharf estate. This latter statement left me quite confused as it seems crazy that they would not allow me to use a service that I am paying for and has nothing to do with the shop. Therefore my question is: can they actually kick me out if the station if they see me there ? Also one of the security people told me that it’s a scaring technique and that if I go into the station and just get the train no one will actually care. (Just to show you how they actually don’t care at all, they are just after the money that they will claim with RLP).

Thanks to everyone that will take the time to reply.

All the infrastructure is owned and run by Transport for London, but the MTR Corporation run and manage the station.
Canary Wharf contributed to the construction costs.
I doubt the Canary Wharf goons have any "jurisdiction" over anything, let alone the station and its environs.

The owners of private property can refuse access to their property, but if one ignores their ban all they can do is ask you to leave as you are trespassing.

In view of the tens of thousands who use that station daily it would be virtually impossible for them to enforce such a ban, even if it was within their authority to make it in the first place

And I love the impracticality of a lifetime ban

And you know what to do about RLP letters.
