I planted a silver birch in my from garden forty years ago. It has survived numerous wins/gales.
With new neighbours and the recent gales, they are concerned should it fall over...across the front of my house and into theirs . I have been advised they have notified their house insurers of this concern.
What responsibility do i have here ? Thanks for any response.

Probably none unless it damages their house.

However having been warned of their concerns It would pay you to

    1) check your house insurance policy to see if there are any conditions regarding height of trees and distance from your own property
    2) if the tree is tall enough to damage their property if it should fall, you should obtain written confirmation from an arborist that it is in good condition and not dangerous. If it then falls and causes damage you will be able to show you were not negligent.
    3) check your liability cover is up to date
