Voluntary Termination excess mileage

Hi. I received a letter from SEAT asking for nearly Ł1000 for excess mileage after I returned a car via the voluntary termination route. I wrote to them explaining that I wasn't required to pay this amount under the VT and have just received a letter from a debt collecting agency acting on behalf of SEAT.
I'm a little worried now and am concerned that they will try to recove the debt and add something to my credit score.
Any help/advise would be appreciated
