  • Getting work done by a limited company and worried- Please help.

    Hello
I am getting a new conservatory by a Limited Company. They have brilliant reviews but I have heard if they go bust then your warranty is void.
What protection can I put in place prior to giving them the work?
I have looked them up on Companies House and can only find "Total Exemption full accounts" up until 31st December 2017?

    Ei.

How long have they been in business ?

I think you need an insurance backed guarantee rather than a standard warranty so that if the company goes under you are still protected via the insurer.

What is an Insurance Backed Guarantee?

An Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) is valuable protection for tradespeople and their customers. An Insurance Backed Guarantee boosts consumer confidence, as home owners know that they are protected in the unlikely event of your company ceasing to trade.

If, due to the liquidation, receivership, administration or winding up of your business due to bankruptcy, state retirement or death of the principal(s), the company no longer exists, faults appearing after they cease to trade may be covered by the Insurance Backed Guarantee.

The Insurance Backed Guarantee is available for a period up to 10 years and is backed by a UK authorised insurer.
