  • CRB check

Hi, A while ago (5-6 months) I posted about something that happened to me, I was caught shoplifting in an m&s, they took my to the back room, they took a picture of me, copy of my ID, handed me a letter to say I was banned. The police was never involved, and I never heard anything from anyone ever since that day not even RLP. Now I have recently started a placement in a secondary school to help out as a teacher assistant, and part of this involves them doing an Enhanced CRB check, can you please confirm if what has happened in m&s will show on this enhanced crb check that they will do? Thank you.

No, it won't. The check is of the police computer, and you are not on that.

2222 thank you so much for the prompt response, i appreciate it's the weekend. I am only asking this because I posted on another free legal website and they said that these things cannot go unnoticed and that although they might not show on a standard CRB check, they'll most certainly show on an enhanced one.I told them that the police werent called but said that the store might have still sent my details across without me knowing. But from my own research of what a CRB check looks at and what you said, I should be fine I guess. But I just needed a second person to confirm it. Thank you again.

Third person - if there were no police and no charges, no caution etc ( sounds like it was just a store ban and intended civil recovery ) there will be nothing on a CRB/DBS check - enhanced or not.

Good luck with your teaching career xxx
