  • Damage Guarantee money

Since August 2018 i am owed 2000 Euros by a French holiday home owner, in lieu of an agreed returnable damage guarantee deposit. Communication from the individual has ceased since October. Having attempted to contact the owner and sought help from the holiday company concerned the monies have not been repaid as promised. I need help on my next steps to recover the debt?

Holiday booking was with well known holiday company. The damage guarantee monies were paid directly via bank transfer to the property owner. We attempted to pay tjis through the holiday company but they said not part of their process.

Letter before action (LBA) is next step as it may get the result you desire, but be prepared to follow it through. One presumes that you have a postal address for the holiday home owner?

        LBA example and advice here:-
Have you not been paid? Writing a short formal Letter Before Action solves payment problems over 90% of the time. It's easy to do - here's an example and template.
