We dropped in to poverty, i had no internet/phone for two years, no heating but scraped by to pay the £165 a month. For those two years they took my money whilst i did not get any help or protection (after 6 months of no login why not reach out or cancel the course?). To me, no mention of extention was given as i had a few months left and only had the first two books.
if i could even get the money from the last two years back, i could re-invest in myself and get a job that way. I try to find my way through the legal landscape to make that claim.

      Hi,

I just joined this forum so I can say I am in the same position as the OP, I signed up in Feb 2016 and Ive been unable to log in for about 18 months now, I've not missed a payment either and am still paying it off. Ive had no reply to emails about log in and no contact from the tutor from the start! I had been meaning to chase this up for some time but after a bit of digging I found this!

Frankly after all what I have read I want to take them to court for mis-selling and breach of contract. But how would I go about doing this?

      I want my £7145 back

      Thanks for any advice

Sorry to hear about that, I'm lucky as I can manage the payments. Still another 6 months or so until its paid off however I dont like the idea that they can just lock you out and take your money. It's DAYLIGHT ROBBERY IMO

Next payday it is the last of the 3 £165 cancellation fees. I need to find legal help, don't know if citizens advice would help with this. And if i can make a appointment with them through email.

Find out if a local solicitor will give you a free half hour? I would try to contact citizens advice too. I'm going to do the same

Hi, i am kind of in the same situation and looking to claim back now since i have fully repaid the full amount.
                  my situation is -
Back in July 2015, I had a conversation with a rep with regards to a welding course through bright spark, The first meeting i had was with only myself and the rep to discuss this course. In my second meeting with the rep it was with myself and my parents and she asked to get to know their back ground to sign up for the course.

In my meetings with the sales rep she has mis-sold this service to myself as confirmed that during the course i could cancel at any time if i needed to and there would be no issues. The rep did not discuss regards to a payment plans or cost relating to the course she took all my details down and said there is only £50 deposit required and that's it.

I had registered for the training course (without knowing any payment plans or having a discussion with regards to course costs) and i had only ever received the training books in which i was given in my second meeting. I haven't heard anything back from Bright Sparks or the finance company (Caledonian finance) since that day and onward, I wasn't provided any tutor details or any further information.

The Sum Loan Agreement in which I have now fully paid off was for £6650 over a 44 month period (monthly payment of £150pm). My first payment towards Caledonian Financial was back on the 25/08/15 and my last payment in March 2019. So overall after my second meeting i never heard anything back after trying to contact them several times by email and also sent a complaint email with no response.

i also emailed Caledonian finance last year and they advised me to pick this up with bright sparks.
After reading the comments from Amethyst should i send a SAR's request to bright sparks and should i do anything else?

                  Thanks

I was contacted by bright sparks welding after looking at various different welding courses in the summer of 2015. They then contacted me around the beginning of December say there was a course advisor in my area and he would like to come and interview me for a possible placement of the course. He visited me one Monday evening going through the course outlines, saying how this is the best welding course out there, that I would be earning 40k after I finish the course. Then he mentioned he had several other possible candidates to interview before he could choose the appropriate candidate for the course. The course advisor who came round pretty much treated my house as his own, using his vape inside my house without asking, mentioning to he how slow and rubbish my laptop was. Just wasn't very professional.

Then I had a call on the Friday for the course advisor congratulating me that I have been chosen to be enrolled on the course. He then came round that evening to go through the course in more detail and organise the loan through Career Finance 4 Trade Skills. He mentioned that the course would cost equivalent to a few drinks a week. He then went through my income and expenditure and then submitted it to Career Finance 4 Trade Skills. They then came up with a monthly sum off £165 plus £50 advance payment. I was then told if I wasn't happy I could cancel within 14 or 16 days of the signed agreement. Which really does not give you any time to see how well you can coupe with the monthly payments. Which I was and still am on a low income.

Since I started the course I have received 2 work books, I tried to download the programme for the online training and could not download it. I was told I would be contacted by my own tutor and haven't. There is 11 weeks of practical that I have not even done 1 day of.

I still currently paying off the course but struggling with the payments each month which is then knocking on with my other monthly bill. Im getting phone call most weeks form Career Finance 4 Trade Skills.

I really feel I was miss lead and mis sold this course. I Am dyslexic and do struggle with studying that is why I have chose this course. but I have tried to go onto my student portal and now cannot access it. there is no telephone number I can find to contact the course.

I am sorry there is so much more I have probably missed.

                    Thanks Adam

0333 006 6230 try that telephone number and have your student number to hand. I warn you though they can be very unhelpful and rude. I have managed to contact them how ever. What’s the company name you purchased the course with ?
