  • Help with letter from dwf demanding £125 security costs

My boyfriend committed a minor shoplifting offense in Tesco he was caught they took the items back there was no fuss & he was arrested, bailed & is awaiting his court date next week where usually they give you any fines for costs & whatever but last week he received a letter from dwf on behalf of Tesco saying that he owes them as follows - Value of goods stolen £0.00
    Value of goods damaged £0.00
Less value of goods recovered £
    Value of cash stolen £0.00
    Security costs £125.00
    Amount now due £125.00
We require payment of the outstanding balance during the next 14 days to avoid further recovery action being taken.

So can anyone help me with this because honestly ive never seen anything like it before & my boyfriend has been arrested before for the same things not so much lately the past 3 years he's been good until now but I don't understand what this is for & why they're demanding it so soon in a threatening way especially before he's even been to court yno? Anyway I welcome any advice thank you

    Hi and welcome

What "this" is, is a speculative demand for monies which are not due.
Just ignore this letter, and the others that will follow as surely as night follows day.
They will threaten, and might even write in red ink, but they can't do anything.
    Just ignore them

You can read their letters here: https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...rs-rlp-and-dwf
