  • Paying a ccj to remove - urgent help please

    Hello,

i am am wondering if anyone has an answer for me, on 6th November Lowell went to court and a ccj was issued against me, now I understand if I pay within 30 days I can have this removed form my credit file; is this correct? If I pay today it is just within the 30 days? Am I correct in thinking that the 30 days started from the judgement day 6th November as confirmed on my credit file? Any clarification from someone who knows what they are talking about who’ll be so very greatly appreciated

    many thanks

That's correct, 30 days from 6 November would make it 6 December you would have to pay by. However, for any avoidance of doubt you are probably best paying it today before 4pm.

You can then apply to the court to have the CCJ removed. I would suggest you ask for a receipt or authorisation number and confirmation from Lowell that payment has been received today. You will need that as evidence to support the removal of the CCJ.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

Thank you so much rob, I really appreciate it. I have paid in full online and screen shot all confirmations etc,

one more ore question that you may be able to help me with, I have several other Lowell debts in my credit file, some I am not sure of the accuracy with dates etc.

should I send a “prove it” letter to them regarding all of them, or all separately? A few are due to drop off my credit file in a couple of months, however I am assuming by paying this ccj today it’s going to open that can of worms!

i was going to send a price it letter listing all of the debts on one, however I did read a post about someone saying they may need to be individual? Can I send them all st the same time, or should I do a couple then another couple once heard back?

sorry to bug you! I’m finally able to try and sort my debts out after a pretty rough time, so it is a priority to get these settled on my credit file

I guess it depends on what stages you are at with Lowell and the other debts and whether they are actually chasing you for them with the intention to issue proceedings or not.

I think it might be best to keep the debts separate as there may be certain circumstances which could allow you certain defences against those debt. So as not to confuse them, it might be wise (if you are at that stage) to make separate threads on them.

As for the CCJ you paid today, you should notify the court and let them know (provide evidence) that this has now been paid. Not sure why the CCJ is already on your credit file as it should only appear after the 30 day period.

Thank you so much for your replies Rob, I really do appreciate them.
i too was shocked to see it was already on my file too. It appeared almost immediately with the judgement date clearly showing as 6th November.
I will send them all individually, up until now I have never rapsinded to any letter or contact from Lowell, I burried my head. It is only now that I need to sort them out, so when the CCJ appeared I knew I had to clear it and I want to sort the others out also, preferably removing them from my credit file, although I know that’s highly unlikely, do you think it is worth sending a pay to delete letter once I have all the prove it proof (if they provide any) back? Or is that something that doesn’t really work these days? You’re a star! Thank you!

Hang on, I never said you should send them a prove it letter. I don't know the status of all those other debts because you've not told us on here at what stage they are at. Depending on the stages you might be better off not saying anything so until you give a clear cut picture of where you are with those other debts, anything you send to Lowell is entirely at your risk of getting further CCJs and any other enforcement action they might take.

What I said you should do is take a step back and identify the debts in question, and if necessary it would be worthwhile creating separate threads on this forum for members to assist you with.

Thank you Rob, I know you didn’t say it, I was just going by what I had read on google about sorting debts out. To be honest I’m out of my depth a bit with all of this, so I don’t know what I am doing.
i will go through my credit file and write down all of the details with dates etc and create a new thread. You’ve been amazing
