  • Wren kitchen nitemare

    Hi
i recently purchased a kitchen from wren. I was a supply only customer as i had my own fitter. I paid a deposit of £2500 and had £600 on 0% finance through wren with barclays.
wren came out to measure all appliances were already in place so i was just purchasing worktops and units along with built in microwave.
measurements went into store and the next day i went down to showroom in cardiff and a design /plan was put in place.
my kitchen arrived parts missing wrong size worktops x2 resultinvbin 3 different worktops, wrong plinth sent matt instead of gloss damaged doors x3 etc however the big problem came when after so much ofcthe kitchen was fitted i noticed that the measurement on my range cooker was vorrect at a 100cm but the designer had put it down as a 90cm , resulting in a difference of over 3 inches along that wall. Hence cupboard didnt fit, wall panels were unable to be placed correctly or even at sll on the base and wall ends. In order to get cupoards on let hand side to fit the back had to be cut on them. We were advised by ryan the designer if the fitter cut the base post right back that everything should fit exactly right. So fitter cut the base corner post right back and still my cupboards do not fit properly. Also along the sink wall my worktop was 40mm short. I contacted them and they confirmed there was enough work tops.
The fitter was umsble to fit a panel along the base units and the washing machine is fitted so tight it hits the panels when on. Theres no room to adjust !
i have contacted wren andxthey have offered to replace 1 base unit with a smaller one, 2 wall units with smaller ones and where my 400 base cupboard is replace with 300 door on put door post to make up the difference. Theyve not looked at the panels or worktops. Either this or £700.
i lost my soon a few years ago aged 19 an my house was just neglected we were finally trying to get our lives and home back on track and thought lets sort the kitchen first. I feel so upset and anxious im getting nowhere everything from my old kitchenbis in the lvinv room and its like living in a bomb site. I feel my nerves are at the end of their tether.
ive contacted comsumer advice line and they helped me put a letter together to wren asking them to collect the kitchen and issue a full refund within 7 days. That was 2 weeks ago i contacted wren yesterday and basically the offer stands. They hadn't even looked at my letters which were sent in email and a confirmation email sent to me acknowledging my email.
can anyone advise me or help me? Im waiting for paper work to arrive from furniture ombudman to make a complaint to them. Also with regards to barclays i have recieved a letter stating they are lookinv at it under a section 75. I have rang barclays numerous times and all i get is someone will ring you in a day or two.bitz been 2 weeks.
be grateful for any opinions or advice.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
As a parent it is not something one contemplates ever happening.

Regarding the kitchen, I would stop 'phoning Wren or Barclays... always write or email.
You have to decide whether or not to pursue a complaint via the ombudsman, or to initiate court action against Wren, or the bank.
However 2 weeks is not an inordinately long time to wait for a response from the bank, who have to contact Wren to obtain their side of the sorry tale!
If you chose the court course you will need to warn the parties of your intention with a letter before action.
This may prompt the response you require, but if it doesn't do not expect a speedy conclusion.
