  • Debt still owing

    Hi to everyone,
my husband and I took out a very large loan in 2005 to clear all our debts into one, this was with First Plus. Then Elderbridge took it over. The thing is that when we took the loan out we insisted that it would be paid off by October 2018 as this is my husband's retirement date and the monthly payment being 600 pounds a month would be difficult to pay out of a old age pension.
But we have just realised the end date is 2021.Elderbridge do not provide statements or original agreements. I don't know when or how this as happened. I know we wouldn't have signed for this had it Been pointed out to us at the time. I would just like to know if anyone else had come across a similar situation? Thankyou

Hi Corrie not to scare you but its a fact Elderbrigde statments say zero arears zero charges zero etc but then when pushed you'll get statments that still show this but at end interest and arears charges they apparently see this as being transparent and fair and not hiding charges. They also put up payments at will according to their base rate which never goes down. You have a unique angle given age personally if I was your age I'd be lobbying press such as this is money in the Daily Mail .. the sooner press starts in Elderbridge the better ..look at Wonga..Fos ruled in previous cases Elderbridge statments unclear but they continue to issue in same format. There is something strange and off at how this company behaves and yet appears to get carte blanche imo.
