  • Car sold with 8000miles more than advertised

    Hello

I recently bought a car from Arnold Clark, it was advertised at 41,000 miles when I’ve gone to collect it it has 49,000 miles on the clock. After taking this up with them they have offered me £300 compensation. Is this a fair amount?

How much is the car? ( ie if it's a £1k car then it's probably more than fair, if it's a £20k car it seems a bit low ) Have you checked price guide on parkers or anything ?

I would also check the manufacturer guidelines as to whether any replacements or repairs should be carried out around that mileage mark and price up any cost. You could use that as leverage to get Arnold Clark to arrange for those repairs to be carried out or give a cash value. Your alternative is to reject the car on the basis that it was not as described but that is probably going to take longer than negotiating compensation / repairs.
