  • Lowell Solicitors Vodafone connection?

    Hello everyone,

I am just looking for a bit of advice please.

The County Court Business Centre in Northampton has issued a claim against me in which Lowell Portfolio Ltd are pursuing me for an alleged debt resulting from my mobile phone contract with Vodafone for the amount of £179.27.

The problem is that Vodafone accepted that they had charged me for a cancelled service as I had taken all the correct steps to end the contract according to their terms in October 2016. I have an email from Vodafone that confirms that my account balance is zero. Recently they even refunded me some money equivalent to a month's tariff.

I have been using "Resolver" to help me with the case which has now been going on for 7 months. Despite numerous assurances by Vodafone that the case is resolved I have continued to receive letters from Lowell Solicitors threatening legal action. I even copied these letters and forwarded them to Vodafone via Resolver. Still they continue to assure me that they are looking into the issue.

The County Court claim is dated 22 May 2018.

Any ideas? I have NEVER contacted Lowell Solicitors and have asked Vodafone to copy me in the communication to them as they have told me that they have contacted them on several occasions and I should not worry.

Bothered about how to stop further letters as I am not the registered tenant of the property they are being sent to.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Hi Zandile,

I can appreciate your frustration over this matter.

So I can access the account in question to see what's happened, please email me via the form here.

To access the form they'll need to enter the code WRT135.

As well as stating your query in the question box, please also need quote "Legal Beagles".

Once sent, you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Post it on here and I'll check that I've received it.

    Kind regards,

    Lee

Even while Lee is investigating you MUST acknowledge the claim using the details and password on the form. Do not enter anything into the defence. This gives you 33 days from date of issue to send a defence to the court. Hopefully the case will be withdrawn before that but think in terms of writing a defence just in case.

If you don't do this then Lowells can apply for a default judgement after 14 days.
