  • Refused ppi store card through SANTANDER/GE MONEY /FCA 1991-2001 limitations act

I am new to this great site. so forgive me if this is in the wrong place. I took out an Evans store card card in 1991. I rang Santander fca, and found I had ppi from 1991-2004. My daughter was born with disabilities. I was not working. I have my nat ins number to prove my unemployment. I do not know why there was ppi. I applied for a refund. I have a letter yesterday saying they do not have a full transactional statement before 2005, and that I need evidence. I have no statements. They offered me £40 for a transaction on dec 1996!. I spoke with Santander they say all their rules are online, and they cannot help, but there is nothing in the public domain in regard to this. I imagine all I can do is approach the Ombudsman. I am just a bit overwhelmed with this and if someone was kind enough to offer me advise I would so welcome this..k

Yes you can now take it to the Ombudsman - there is a complaint form on their website and you can include all your evidence that the PPI was missold ( ie that you weren't working at the time of application )

what if I’m unhappy with the business’s answer?

If you’re unhappy with the business’s answer to your PPI complaint, you can ask us to look into it for you. If we think the business has acted unfairly, we’ll explain how we think they should put things right. You’ll need to bring your complaint to us within six months of getting the business’s answer.

You can do this is over the phone on 0800 121 6222 - or by filling out our online complaint form.

Or you can fill out our Word or PDF form and post or email it to us. We’ll also need some details about your PPI – which you can give us by completing our PPI questionnaire (Word or PDF).

There’s more information about these forms here.

We make it as easy as possible to use our service. There’s no need to use a claims management company. If you do, they will take some of any compensation you might get.

We can explain anything you’re not sure about - and you can talk to us in the way that works best for you. If you want someone else to talk to us on your behalf - like a family member or friend or - just let us know.

I can't thank you enough, I felt very lost in the letter which more or less says it's over as I have no proof but they say and I quote " I am not satisfied the ppi policy was suitable for you when it was sold"

Well that's a bit bizarre, so they are basically admitting the PPI was mis-sold but refusing to refund you any more than the £40 THEY happen to have a record of ? I think the ombudsman will make them do some simple mathematics.
